Well this blog is mainly for the UG students going for masters. I would give you a step by step procedure and what to do and what not to do till you land in US for masters. I would be glad if I could you help you out through out the whole procedure.
Steps:
1) STEP 1: GRE
The foremost and you can say the most important of all the steps is writing your GRE exam, which stands for Graduate Record Examination. This exam takes place throughout the year, and a student can write this exam only once in a month and max of 5 times in a year. A Good GRE score brings you one step closer to admission in your desired university. The total score is reported out of 1600. Candidate must obtain at least 1000 in order to get admission. Although there is separate score for quantitative ,verbal, AWA section. These scores are provided out of 800. AWA section is judged on scale of 6. Once you obtain the score it will be valid for upcoming five years.
THIS EXAM CAN LAND YOU INTO YOUR DREAM UNIVERSITY. AVG PREPARATION TIME 1.5 MONTH to 2 MONTHS.Preferable Time of exam 3rd year summer holidays.
2 ) STEP 2: TOEFL
Talent of English for Foreign Language. This test is a must for any student going to US and its only on English. This exam can be replaced with IELTS. TOEFL score is reported for a total of 120. The cut off at an avg univ is 78 and at most of the univ it is 88. But a score above 100 or 105 can get you a TA ( Teaching Assistantship) .Its a very simple exam and preparation time required is around 10-15 days.
3) STEP3: UNIVERSITY SELECTION
After getting your scores, and if you are satisfied with your score you need to apply to the universities. You need to shortlist univ based on your profile: Acads, GRE score, TOEFL score, research and Publications. I would be helping you out even in this by providing detailed list of universities based on research and avg Gre Score.
4) STEP4 : SOPs/LORs/BankStatement.
The following documents should be prepared by you to apply to any university.
Document1: SOP
Statement of Purpose. This outlines why do you want to go this university and whats so special in you.You need to tell about research work and all. I will provide you all the sops I have around 20-25 of them and also help you out in writing. SOP's can help you get into a good univ with an average profile.

Document2: LOR
Letter of Recommendation. These are the letters which your prof should send to the university. You would be requiring 3 of these. Can be either Paper Based of Online.

Document3: Bank Statement/ Certificate.
Most of the universities require you to send a bank certificate which would show that you have enough money required to cover the expenses for studies and also for living over there.
